The artist creates interesting designs using various papers, textured materials, metallics, leaves, tree bark, and other materials. Her designs were inspired by nature at first and later by an interest in a more sophisticated, contemporary, "glitzy" look. Most of the embellishments are elevated so as to give a 3-D quality. The simple but elegant lines in the designs make a statement that is clear and uncluttered.

Carol Gaynor is a California artist. Though not formally educated in the arts, she was greatly influenced by a very artistic and literary-oriented family. Her eye for color, design, and proportion evolved out of her work in floral design, landscaping, and interior design. Carol also worked as a publications specialist in the high tech world of information systems before realizing her artistic side had not been sufficiently challenged and decided to make a career change.
